NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - On Saturday (February 6, 2010) afternoon the North Amityville Fire Company responded to an MVA near the intersection of New Highway and 44th Street. A single car drove into a wooded area at this location which resulted in the driver becoming entrapped within the vehicle.

Units arrived on scene and went to work extricating the patient. With the assistance of Suffolk County ESU officers, they removed the roof and driver's door and were able to extricate the driver.

The driver was transported up the street where a landing zone had been setup at a lot near New Highway and Albany Avenue. Once flight medics arrived on scene the decision to transport the patient via ground was made. The patient was then transported to a nearby hospital via a North Amityville Fire Company Ambulance.

There were no other patients from this accident and no other vehicles damaged. Police are still investigating the exact nature of the accident.
