NORTH AMITYVILLE, NY - On Saturday (February 6,
2010) afternoon the North Amityville Fire Company responded to an MVA near the
intersection of New Highway
and 44th Street.
A single car drove into a wooded area at this location which resulted in the
driver becoming entrapped within the vehicle.
Units
arrived on scene and went to work extricating the patient. With the assistance of
SuffolkCountyESU
officers, they removed the roof and driver's door and were able to extricate
the driver.
The
driver was transported up the street where a landing zone had been setup at a
lot near New Highway
and Albany Avenue.
Once flight medics arrived on scene the decision to transport the patient via
ground was made. The patient was then transported to a nearby hospital via a
North Amityville Fire Company Ambulance.
There
were no other patients from this accident and no other vehicles damaged. Police
are still investigating the exact nature of the accident.
