Police Car MVA In New Cassel

NEW CASSEL, NY – A Nassau County Police Officer and another person were injured in a car accident in New Cassel Monday (August 18, 2008) night. According to sources, the police officer was headed westbound on Prospect Avenue when a Ford Explorer, headed eastbound, attempted to make a left turn down Garden Street. This is where the accident occurred.

The officer’s car sustained severe front damage, trapping the officer inside. Emergency personnel had to cut the patrol car’s door off to free the officer. The driver of the Ford Explorer was not trapped.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. An accident investigation closed down the intersection for hours Monday night. Thankfully there were no serious injuries in this accident.
