01/26/2008: Working Fire In Central Islip
CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Just before 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008 the Central Islip Fire Department responded to a working house fire at 147 Branch Avenue. This was a 2 story private dwelling with fire on the 2nd floor.
Engine 3-7-2 picked up a hydrant in front of the fire building and began operating one line while a 2nd was being stretched. Other apparatus on scene included Tactical Rescue/Incident Command Truck 3-7-18, Engine 3-7-3, Engine 3-7-4, Ladder 3-7-5 and Heavy Rescue Truck 3-7-6 for lights. Brentwood Fire Department responded in with a F.A.S.T. assignment along with Islip Terrace for an additional Engine. Central Islip - Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance and Exchange of the Islips both stood by with ambulances on scene as well.
Within half an hour the fire was knocked down while companies began to overhaul checking for extensions. Primary and Secondary searches proved negative and all three occupants of the house were accounted for and uninjured. It is currently unknown what the cause of the fire is.
