06/02/2008: Car Vs Building In Sayville

SAYVILLE, NY – The Sayville Fire Department along with Community Ambulance responded to a car vs. building this afternoon (Monday, June 2, 2008). The accident took place at the Leesa Byrnes Realty building located at 113 Railroad Avenue.

According to witnesses on scene, the driver was on her cell phone when she struck a utility pole nearby, ran over a planter and crashed into the front-corner window of the store. Two employees in the office at the time (including the owner, Leesa Byrnes herself) reported hearing a crash and looked up to see the car driving towards them.

Community Ambulance transported the driver to a local hospital with unknown injuries while police waited for the arrival of a tow truck. Thankfully none of the employees inside the building were harmed.
