07/11/2008: Fatal Motorcycle MVA In Copiague

COPIAGUE, NY – The North Amityville Fire Department responded to a motorcycle MVA this afternoon (Friday, July 11, 2008) at the intersection of New Highway and 43rd Street. Police already on scene requested a rush on the ambulance as they had a motorcycle rider down in the street after his Yamaha motorcycle collided with a black Infiniti Car.

Rescue personnel from North Amityville responded to the scene but unfortunately the motorcycle rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at the scene. The driver of the Inifiti was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with cuts and bruises from the accident.

Police closed off New Highway in both directions while crime scene officers responded to the scene to conduct an accident investigation. Residents who live in the area stated this was not the first accident of this kind to take place along this road. According to sources, the Infiniti was turning onto New Highway from 43rd Street when the motorcycle crashed into the side of the car.
