08/22/2008: Working Fire In Westbury
WESTBURY, NY – On Friday, August 22, 2008 the Westbury Fire Department responded to a house fire at 624 Powells lane. Upon arrival by first arriving chief’s they were met with heavy smoke pushing out of a private dwelling and the chief transmitted a working fire.
Engine 967 picked up a hydrant at the corner of Alica Drive and Powells Lane and made a long stretch to the front of the fire building. Ladder Truck 963 setup in front of the building as well and went into operations bring manpower to the roof. Mutual aid companies from Hicksville, Jericho, Carle Place and East Meadow also responded to the scene.
Within about 40 minutes of the alarm the fire was marked as under control and mutual aid companies were released from the scene.
