MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY – Around 11:10 a.m. today (Thursday, October 18, 2007) the Massapequa Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in the Enterprise parking lot located at 4780 Sunrise Highway. The driver of a Honda Civic, who was traveling westbound, somehow cut across the center median and three lanes of eastbound traffic, knocked down a fire hydrant on the sidewalk and crashed into a Lexus GX740 owned by an employee of the Spaces 4 Rent store. The young male driver was given a field sobriety test by Nassau County Police, the results of which are unknown. A pedestrian in the area was struck by the Civic. Transported to Nassau University Medical Center via a Massapequa Ambulance, this patient suffered injuries to his leg. The driver of the Civic was transported to a local hospital via a Nassau County Police Ambulance.
