11/19/2007: SUV Vs House In North Bellmore
NORTH BELLMORE, NY – Around 9:15 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2007 the North Bellmore Fire Department responded to reports of a car crashing into a house near the corner of Little Neck Avenue and Bellmore Road. As first responding units arrived on scene they found a GMC Envoy through the front corner of a garage.
The driver lost control of his vehicle while traveling north bound on Bellmore Road. Leaving the road and driving through two fences he finally came to rest after crashing into the corner of a garage. The driver was transported to Nassau University Medical Center via North Bellmore Ambulance 651. Nassau County Police responded to the hospital where a blood alcohol test was given to the driver under suspicions of driving while intoxicated.
Meanwhile, back at the incident location, the North Bellmore Technical Rescue Trailer was requested to the scene to stabilize the garage. While the technical rescue team worked on stabilizing the garage North Bellmore’s Heavy Rescue Truck 653 setup the winch and lighting so they could pull the Envoy from the garage. Once the building was stabilized, the Envoy was pulled from the structure and the technical rescue team braced the garage with pieces of wood.
Units were returned to service within about two hours of the incident. Thankfully there were no serious injuries
