12/02/2007: Car Vs Two Trees In Farmingdale
FARMINGDALE, NY – Around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, December 2, 2007 the Farmingdale Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident next to 137 Main Street. Reports were coming in to dispatch that a vehicle had struck a pole.
As Farmingdale Chiefs arrived on scene they requested Heavy Rescue Truck 928 to roll in as they had two occupants trapped inside. The vehicle, which was traveling north down Main Street, struck two trees. The first tree was ripped out of the ground at the base while the second tree stood its ground, spinning the car around where it landed sideways on the sidewalk. The tree took some heavy damage and was knocked against the side of a building.
Farmingdale FD responded in with two engines (Engine 923 and 924) along with Heavy Rescue Truck 928. After extrication of the two occupants was complete Farmingdale Ambulance 929 transported one of the patients to Nassau University Medical Center while a Nassau County Police Ambulance transported the second victim.
Various services were requested to the scene to remove the vehicle as well as check for any damage to power lines above, which the tree came into contact with after it was truck. There appeared to be no structural damage to the building next to the tree however. All units were returned to service within 45 minutes of the alarm.
