02/11/2007: Brush Fire In Gardiner's Park

BAY SHORE, NY - Around 2pm on Sunday, February, 11, 2007 the Bay Shore FDwas toned out for a brush fire inside Gardiner's Park.

Upon arrival mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments including West Islip, Islip Terrace and Brentwood.

Each of the Fire Departments responded with their brush trucks and other apparatus as reports of fires inside the woods at Gardiner's Park came in.

Islip FD was requested to standby at the Bay Shore FD to assist with any other calls Bay Shore might receive.

First arriving crews made entrance into the park and quickly knocked down any visible fires. Multiple brush trucks were sent into the woods to take care of any hot spots that lingered.

Apparatus' made their way back and forth as they resupplied there water tanks.
